About Us

Development Insites (a word play on Web sites and insights) was established in late 1999. We are located in the heart of the Midwest United States, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

In addition to our company’s description, focus, and services stated on the home page, we would add that our goals are two-fold:

• Build high quality Microsoft .NET applications that use well-established “best practices”
• Write training materials that truly facilitate learning, and that reflect superior attention to detail and technical breadth

We trust that the accomplishments listed on this site attest to the ongoing fulfillment of these goals.

At the present time the company consists solely of the owner, Patrick Barnes. He has several years of experience in the field of Web application development and has been building production applications with Microsoft .NET since Beta 1 in mid-2000. Patrick graduated with honors from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1986, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. Prior to a career in programming and education, he served for eight years as a Naval officer flying carrier-based FA-18 Hornets, followed by four years with Microsoft as a simulation game designer and Program Manager.
